Official | Tottenham Hotspur re-call Japhet Tanganga from Augsburg loan

Augsburg have announced the early termination of defender Japhet Tanganga’s loan from Tottenham Hotspur.

After joining in the summer, there was great hope that the 24-year-old would be able to play a significant role for the Fuggerstädter this season. However, Tanganga failed to make a single competitive appearance during his time in Bavaria.

Despite featuring 50 times for Tottenham over the course of three years, including 27 Premier League appearances, Tanganga was unable to force his way into the Augsburg side. As well as this, the defender only once made the Augsburg bench, coming away to FC Köln in early November.

For now, it is not yet known whether the Fuggerstädter will look to replace the Englishman with further reinforcement as they look to further distance themselves from the relegation zone, currently sitting seven points clear of Mainz, who occupy the relegation playoff.

However, as for Tanganga, Kicker are reporting that there is a possibility of a loan move to Championship side Millwall to ensure he is offered the gametime Tottenham were originally hoping for.
