Max Eberl on Bayern Munich’s Champions League tie: “Arsenal are the favourites. They are top of the Premier League and are doing very well”

Speaking to Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) Bayern Munich director, Max Eberl believes that Arsenal are the favourites heading into their Champions League tie on Tuesday in London.

When asked about the game, Eberl said: “Arsenal are the favourites. They are top of the Premier League and are doing very well.”

The director also continued to back the team in front of goal heading into the game: “We have the quality to score goals. We lack the energy and willingness to prevent goals. A coach can say that from the outside, but the duels must be led by the team.” One man who will be key to all of this is Harry Kane, when asked what he expects of the former Tottenham striker, Eberl said: “I expect goals. He has already scored a lot, which is very good for us. He’s coming back to his home country.”

The game against Arsenal will be big to determine how bad their season has been. A loss in this game and ultimately in the tie will be a disaster for Bayern as it would mean they will no longer have anything to play for this season. However, a win against the Gunners will give Bayern hope that they can still salvage something from a poor season.

In the league, Bayern are 16 points off of Bayer Leverkusen in first place after a 3-2 loss to Heidenheim at the weekend where they threw away a 2-0 lead. Normally, Bayern would use the next game to bounce back after such as result but the team have not looked as if they possess the same instinct recently.
