Josip Stanisic wishes to stay at Bayer Leverkusen instead of returning to Bayern Munich

Sky Germany reports that Josip Stanisic wishes to stay at Bayer Leverkusen beyond the expiry of his loan in the summer instead of returning to Bayern Munich.

Initially, Stanisic struggled for game time at Leverkusen, but after the turn of the year he has played an increasingly more important role in Leverkusen’s push for three titles.

The 24-year-old has had a good week with die Werkself, having scored the equaliser in their Europa League second leg with Roma last Thursday before bagging a goal and assist in Leverkusen’s 5-0 win against Bochum on Sunday.

Leverkusen have been informed about Stanisic’s wish but discussions between Bayern and Leverkusen have yet to take place, however, talks would likely take place at the end of the season.

However, it is unknown whether Bayern, the team constantly buy from competitors, would be willing to sell to a direct competitor.

Stanisic’s contract at Bayern expires in 2026 and he is valued at €18m by transfermarkt.
