Aleksandar Pavlović named in Germany’s provisional Euro 2024 squad

Bayern Munich’s Aleksandar Pavlović (20) is the latest player to be called up to Julian Nagelsmann’s provisional Germany squad for Euro 2024. The latest nomination was announced on RTL, as the DFB come up with a unique way of announcing their squad as to avoid any leaks.

Pavlović has enjoyed a breakout season, playing 24 games across Thomas Tuchel, scoring two and creating two. Still without a cap for Germany, the 20-year-old was nominated for their games against France and the Netherlands, but had to withdraw due to tonsillitis, and so is still awaiting his national team debut. Germany play Ukraine on June 3 and against Greece just four days later, and it’s expected that the Bavarian will feature then.

Is there a place for Leon Goretzka?

With the nomination of Pavlović, it’s looking more likely that his Bayern Munich teammate, Leon Goretzka, may not get a call up. Nagelsmann has relied on Robert Andrich while Brighton’s Pascal Groß has also featured. And with the return of Toni Kroos, space is limited despite the decision to increase the squad size to 26.

Alongside Pavlović, Jonathan Tah and Nico Schlotterbeck have been nominated.
