Hertha Berlin players wish to keep Pal Dárdai at the club beyond the summer

Bild reports that the players are Hertha Berlin are trying to keep Pal Dárdai at the club beyond the summer, with rumours that the Hungarian may leave.

Vice-captain Fabian Reese was said to have visited Dárdai to try and convince him to stay at the club. Dárdai’s contract at Hertha expires in the summer and he has yet to come to a decision on whether he wants to stay.

After being relegated with Hertha from the Bundesliga at the end of last season, Dárdai has used Hertha’s first season in the 2.Bundesliga to promote several academy players into the senior side. Linus Gechter, Pascal Klemens, Ibrahim Maza, Marten Winkler, Derry Scherhant as well as Bence and Palko Dárdai have all joined Marton Dárdai with playing a role in the senior side.

However, Sky Germany reports that Hertha are looking at potential replacements for Dárdai with Karlsruhe’s Christian Eichner as an option. Eichner has a release clause said to be worth €1-2m and has previously attracted interest from Mainz and Schalke. Freiburg’s second-team manager Thomas Stamm, who will leave the club at the end of the season, has also been linked as a potential replacement for Dárdai.
