Hansi Flick is now the favourite to succeed Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich

As reported by Sky Germany, Hansi Flick is prepared to take the Bayern Munich job, as a successor for Thomas Tuchel appears to have finally been found.

Over the past few months, a number of names have been linked to the Bayern job, and a number of names have turned down the chance to become Der Rekordmeister’s head coach.

Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ralf Ragnick are just three of the names to have clearly rejected the advances of the record champions, while Unai Emery and Roberto De Zerbi have also spoken about how they are committed to Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion, respectively.

This has left Bayern in a tricky situation where they are having to resort to Plan C in their hunt for a new head coach. However, they appear to have finally found their Tuchel successor.

Former head coach Hansi Flick has previously been linked with a return to the Allianz Arena, but the 59-year-old had intended to seek opportunities abroad. Flick had been in discussion with those in charge at Barcelona about taking the reins from Xavi at the end of the campaign, but the Spaniard has since committed his future to the Spanish giants.

This has, therefore, left the door open for Flick at Bayern, and it is understood that he would be willing to return to Bavaria. Nonetheless, as of yet, there are no concrete discussions between the Flick and the Bayern board.

Other candidates, such as Ernesto Valverde and Zinedine Zidane, have been considered by Bayern in recent weeks, but Max Eberl and Christoph Freund have ruled their pair out. With Flick now in pole position to take the job, should he return to Bayern, would he be able to recreate the success he previously enjoyed at the club?
