Eric Dier: Bayern Munich contract until 2025

Bayern Munich have this morning confirmed that Eric Dier’s contract has been extended by a further year, until June 2025, after a pre-agreed clause was met.

The 30-year-old joined Bayern on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in January, but will now remain at the club until 2025. Dier has already featured seven times for the Rekordmeister across all competitions, predominantly in central-defence.

“I’m happy in Munich,” said Dier. “Now my future is sorted, and I can focus on playing well for the club and trying to help the club to win games, win competitions, even though it’s been a difficult period for us.”

A difficult time for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich announced last week that Thomas Tuchel would leave the club at the end of the season. Many thought that the news would ease some of the pressure but after their 2-2 draw against Freiburg on Friday night, Bayern could find themselves 10 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen come Sunday afternoon.

Not only that, should Stuttgart beat Wolfsburg in the Topspiel, VfB will be just four points behind Bayern, who host Lazio in the Champions League on Tuesday night. Losing 1-0 in the first-leg, Bayern find themselves in a precarious position and elimination from the Champions League at this stage would be catastrophic.
