Donyell Malen absent from Borussia Dortmund’s matchday squad

Borussia Dortmund will be without Donyell Malen for their Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid tonight. According to Ruhr Nachrichten, the Dutchman didn’t travel to the team hotel after missing the club’s final training session with a knee problem.

Malen was absent against Bayern Munich and Stuttgart, but played 36 minutes against Borussia Mönchengladbach at the weekend, replacing Jamie Bynoe-Gittens who was substituted with back complaints. But there is positive news when it comes to the Englishman, he makes Dortmund’s squad, alongside Jadon Sancho who was absent at the weekend with an illness.

Unfortunately for Sebastien Haller, he made his first start for Dortmund at the weekend but was replaced after nine minutes due to an ankle injury. It’s unlikely that the Ivorian will play again for Die Schwarzgelben this season, leaving Edin Terzic with Niclas Füllkrug and Youssoufa Moukoko as the attacking options.
