DFB consider interim solution as they continue to push for Jürgen Klopp

According to Sport Bild (via @iMiaSanMia) the DFB are looking at a potential interim option for the head coach of the German national team as they push for Jürgen Klopp

It is well known that the DFB want outgoing Liverpool manager Klopp to become the manager of the German national team eventually. However, once he departs Liverpool at the end of the season, Klopp is interested in taking a sabbatical.

With current head coach Julian Nagelsmann’s contract expiring after the Euros in the summer and Klopp unwilling to take on another role for at least a year, the DFB will be left in a conundrum as they will likely not have a manager lined up.

The solution is Sandro Wagner.

The DFB hopes they can convince Klopp to become manager in March of 2025, meaning he will be involved in the cycle ahead of the World Cup in 2026. Current assistant to Nagelsmann, Wagner will then be interim head coach for the rest of 2024 after the Euros.
