Dayot Upamecano has no intention of leaving Bayern Munich

With interest in Dayot Upamecano, the Frenchman has provided an update on his Bayern Munich future.

Speaking exclusively to Kicker, when questioned if he’s thinking about a departure from the Allianz Arena, Upamecano said: “No, not at all.

“I have a contract until 2026. I feel good, at the club and with my teammates.

“I want to stay here at Bayern Munich and will keep pushing.”

Upamecano has played 26 games across all competitions for Bayern Munich this season but has rarely featured since his sending off against Bochum on February 18. The French defender was sent off for a second-bookable offence, and only played seven minutes against Freiburg upon his return. The 25-year-old was also sent off against Lazio in the Champions League Round of 16 first-leg, and only found a place on the bench against Mainz at the weekend.

The performances of Eric Dier and the return of Matthijs de Ligt appears to have outed Upamecano from Tuchel’s Bayern Munich squad, while the France international is also fighting for a starting place alongside Kim Min-jae.

Bayern Munich currently find themselves 10 points behind leaders Bayer Leverkusen with nine game remaining.
