‘Carlo Ancelotti cannot be valued highly enough’ – Thomas Tuchel

With four Champions League titles as a manager, Carlo Ancelotti is held in high esteem and is regarded as one of the best tacticians football has ever seen. The Italian was a hot topic for Thomas Tuchel, who has faced his opposite nine times during his time as Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea manager. But tomorrow’s game between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will be Tuchel’s first against Ancelotti as Bayern head coach.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be the fourth time Tuchel and Ancelotti have met each other in the Champions League, and it’s been an even record with one win, two draws and one defeat.

Ahead of tomorrow’s Champions League semi-final, Tuchel had high praise for Ancelotti: “Carlo Ancelotti is a legend. He is very humble, extraordinary and cannot be valued highly enough. You’re playing against Real, against the myth, the colours, the jersey. Nevertheless, he is always so nice and humble at the meetings,” said Tuchel in a press conference on Monday, before adding: “Our approach against Real will therefore be very substantive. We’re having a tactics session today and tomorrow. Then everyone can look forward to the game.”

But Tuchel’s praise for Ancelotti didn’t stop there. “Carlo exudes fatherliness, which is one of his great strengths,” added the 50-year-old.
