Bundesliga Predictions | Round 21

In this weekly feature, hosts of the Gegenpressing podcast Stefan Bienkowski and Manu Veth face off with their predictions for the forthcoming Bundesliga matchday fixtures. It’s three points for a correct score and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Manu’s Game of the Week: Borussia Dortmund vs Freiburg

My match of the week is Borussia Dortmund against Freiburg. Dortmund have not lost a Friday night home game since 2004 when they lost to their rivals Schalke. I don’t think that is going to change this week when they host Freiburg. But their result last weekend against Heidenheim was anything but convincing and I wouldn’t be surprised if the Black and Yellows drop points once again this weekend.

Manu’s Predictions:

Dortmund 2-2 Freiburg; Union 2-1 Wolfsburg; Frankfurt 3-1 Bochum; Gladbach 2-0 Darmstadt; Werder 1-1 Heidenheim; Augsburg 1-2 Leipzig; Leverkusen 2-2 Bayern; Stuttgart 3-1 Mainz; Hoffenheim 2-1 Köln

Stefan’s Game of the Week: Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

My game of the week has to be Bayern Munich’s trip to Bayer Leverkusen. The home side will probably fancy their chances of lifting the title if they can avoid defeat to Thomas Tuchel’s side, but there’s very little to suggest that Xabi Alonso’s team will be willing to settle for a point. With some major injuries to Bayern’s squad – particularly in defence – I think Leverkusen may have the edge in this game. And should win it narrowly if they can take their chances.

Stefan’s Predictions:

Dortmund 2-1 Freiburg; Union Berlin 1-1 Wolfsburg; Frankfurt 2-1 Bochum; Gladbach 2-0 Darmstadt; Bremen 2-1 Heidenheim; Augsburg 0-2 Leipzig; Leverkusen 3-2 Bayern; Stuttgart 2-0 Mainz; Hoffenheim 2-1 Köln

Scores after MD20: Manu – 132, Stefan – 137
