Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey subject to interest from Bayern Munich

As reported by David Ornstein of The Athletic, Bayern Munich have declared their interest in Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

The England under-21 international has been subject to a significant amount of attention across Europe this January. It is understood that Premier League side Newcastle United have already made an attempt to lure Ramsey away from Villa Park, but due to their financial constraints, it is unlikely they will be able to sign the 22-year-old.

Therefore, this has potentially opened the door for a number of other clubs across the continent to sign Ramsey, should they meet Villa’s valuation. Bayern are one of the sides, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, who have made their admiration of the midfielder clear.

However, Ramsey has recently been able to establish himself in Unai Emery’s midfield, meaning that it would be understandable that Villa would be unwilling to let their academy graduate leave. According to the report, offers of over €58 million could be considered by the English side.

However, whether Der Rekordmesiter will make an offer is unknown, as Ramsey would fit a similar profile to that of Schalke’s Assan Ouédraogo, whom Bayern are very intent on signing. Nevertheless, while the player himself has not yet been convinced by the record champions, if Bayern are able to find an agreement with the 17-year-old, then their interest in Ramsey may begin to fade.
