Wolfsburg to sign Nicolas Cozza from Montpellier

When speaking to Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung, Wolfsburg managing director Jörg Schmadtke confirmed that they are signing Nicolas Cozza from Montpellier.

On the subject of the new arrival, Schmadtke said: “It is clear that he will come. The question is whether he is already coming now or in the summer.” It is reported that Wolfsburg would like to sign the centre-back now, but Montpellier is hesitating on allowing him to leave.

Cozza has played 16 matches for Montpellier this season, scoring twice and assisting once. The 24-year-old can play as a centre-back and a left-back which adds depth for Wolfsburg after the departure of Jérôme Roussillon to Union Berlin

Another player that is likely to leave Wolfsburg in the near future is Josip Brekalo, with Italian side AC Monza showing an interest in the Croatia international.

Wolfsburg are currently 7th in the Bundesliga and finished the year on a four-game winning streak and have experienced a big turnaround under Niko Kovac compared to their previous season under Florian Kohfeldt and Mark van Bommel.

They restart their season at home against Freiburg on January 21.
