West Ham join Manchester United as candidates for Leon Goretzka

Sky Germany reports that West Ham United have joined Manchester United as a candidate for Leon Goretzka this summer.

Manchester United have previously shown interest in Goretzka since it has become known that he is a candidate to leave the club this summer and now West Ham are also interested as they look for a replacement for Declan Rice who has joined Arsenal.

Goretzka’s current contract at Bayern expires in 2026 and they are demanding between €40-50m for the 28-year-old. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel would prefer to bring in a player with a similar profile to Rice who can play next to Joshua Kimmich.

There is already big competition in the Bayern midfield next season due to the arrivals of Konrad Laimer and Raphaël Guerreiro as well as Ryan Gravenberch still at the club. Goretzka also lost his place next to Kimmich in the Bayern midfield at the latter end of last season due to his poor performances meaning the chances of Goretzka playing consistently under Tuchel is low.

However, the 28-year-old also does not want to leave Bayern and has no interest in speaking to other clubs over a potential transfer.
