VfB Stuttgart hope to sign three more players before the window closes

According to Bild, VfB Stuttgart hope to sign three more players to boost their squad before the transfer window closes on September 1st.

Due to the departure of Konstantinos Mavropanos to West Ham, Stuttgart want to sign an additional central defender after completing the signing of Swiss centre-back Leonidas Stergiou on loan from St Gallen. The 21-year-old is seen more as a project for the future and Stuttgart needs a centre-back that is similar in profile to Mavropanos.

In midfield, Stuttgart have already begun their search for a replacement for Wataru Endo, who joined Liverpool last week. The club has been linked to Hoffenheim’s Angelo Stiller as well as Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kristijan Jakić. The latter is not considered the type of player that manager Sebastian Hoeneß wants in his midfield. His ideal midfielder is Stiller but the 22-year-old is currently too expensive at €10m.

Finally, VfB also hopes to bring in an additional attacker. Winger Gil Dias is in talks with Al Khaleej from Saudi Arabia over a potential permanent departure as the 26-year-old no longer has a role to play at the club.

A candidate to join the club is Royal Antwerp’s Michel-Ange Balikwisha but if the 22-year-old does arrive it could only be on loan as he too is currently considered too expensive.
