Three things to watch out for in Der Klassiker as Borussia Dortmund host Bayern Munich

Borussia Dortmund will host Bayern Munich on Matchday 10 of the Bundesliga as both sides look to close the gap on league leaders, Bayer Leverkusen. Take a look at the three things to watch out for as the two Bundesliga giants go head-to-head.

Guaranteed goals

There are always goals scored whenever these two meet in the Bundesliga. A huge 352 goals have been scored in this fixture with an average of 3.26 goals scored per game. This season Bayern Munich have scored 34 goals which is the most in the Bundesliga whilst Dortmund have scored 20 goals, with four teams scoring more.

But it’s not just the strikers scoring goals

Whilst Harry Kane has been in fine form since joining Bayern Munich in the summer, he also seems to have elevated the performance levels of the other attacking outlets in this Bayern side, Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sané. Both wingers are hitting top form right now, especially Sané who is arguably in the form of the life, scoring eight goals already this season.

As for Dortmund, Niclas Füllkrug has operated as the focal point in attack recently due to the drop off in form of Sébastien Haller however, his providers have been chipping in with more goals so far this season with Donyell Malen scoring three goals, Julian Brandt scoring four and Marco Reus scoring three. It will be hard to predict a goal scorer for this fixture but at least a goal or two from someone will be guaranteed.

Battle of the teenage sensations

Borussia Dortmund have their own secret weapon in Youssoufa Moukoko who has not quite hit the heights of his breakthrough, this season however it looks that he may have found himself again after saving the match for Dortmund last week in the 3-3 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt. The teenager has been influential from the bench before and what a time it would be to do it again.

Bayern Munich have found a new superstar in 18-year-old Mathys Tel. The Frenchman has averaged a goal every 56 minutes in the Bundesliga this season despite only been used as a substitute so far. It is unfortunate that Tel has the competition of starting a match with one of the world’s best strikers in Harry Kane who has 12 goals already this season. Borussia Dortmund’s defence will have to be sharp for the full 90 minutes as Tel sure knows how to make an instant impact.
