Thomas Müller misses Bayern Munich’s Asia tour

Bayern Munich have today confirmed that Thomas Müller will miss their Asia Summer Tour.

“Thomas Müller is dealing with a hip problem and together with the medical team, we have decided that it is best if Thomas stays here and doesn’t travel to Asia with us.” said CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Müller (33) was a part of Bayern Munich’s Tegernsee training camp but left early due to hip problems. Instead of travelling to Tokyo and Singapore, he will instead train at the club’s Säbener Straße HQ.

“Of course he would have done us good from a commercial point of view because of his identification with the club and his standing in Japan, but the sporting part is our priority,” added Dreesen.

As part of Bayern’s Asia trip, they will play friendlies against Manchester City (July 26), Kawasaki Frontale (July 29) and Liverpool (August 2).

While on their Asia tour, Bayern Munich are expected to begin negotiations with Manchester City for the transfer of Kyle Walker. The Englishman has already informed his club that he would like to join Bayern Munich. As reported yesterday, both clubs are expected to find an agreement around the €15m figure for Walker, who will sign a two-year contract with a possible extension by a further year.
