Kyle Walker informs Pep Guardiola that he wants to join Bayern Munich

As reported by Sport1’s Kerry Hau, Manchester City’s Kyle Walker has informed Pep Guardiola and some of his teammates of his decision to join Bayern Munich.

With 12 months remaining on his current deal, Walker only wants to join the Rekordmeister and it’s now up to both clubs to find an agreement. As reported last week, Walker and Bayern Munich have already reached a verbal agreement, which will see the England international sign a contract until 2025 with an option to extend by a further year.

With Walker’s decision and an agreement between the player and club, Bayern Munich are now expected to begin negotiations with Manchester City. According to Florian Plettenberg, both clubs should reach an agreement over a €15m fee plus add-ons for the 33-year-old.

As reported by Sport Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl, Manchester City want to speak to Walker again on Thursday to discuss the player’s future but the Englishman’s decision to join Bayern remains the same. City want to buy time to find and sign a successor to Walker.

In signing Walker, Bayern Munich are signing a player that has leadership qualities and Thomas Tuchel envisions the Englishman as a leader within the Bayern dressing room.
