There will likely be a delay in Max Eberl joining Bayern Munich

After leaving RB Leipzig after less than a year in September, Max Eberl was heavily rumoured to join Bayern Munich but there is likely to be a delay in the former sporting director joining the club, according to Sport Bild.

If Eberl is to move to Bayern it is likely to take place after the winter transfer window. Bayern have already begun to plan for January and this will give full responsibility to Christoph Freund who will work in close contact with head coach Thomas Tuchel.

Initial negotiations with the former Leipzig and Borussia Mönchengladbach director have already happened and more talks are expected soon, no decision will be made. Once Eberl inevitably joins then he will be in full control of Bayern’s transfer dealings.

The other stumbling block will be the fee Bayern have to pay Leipzig. As Eberl is still under contract at the Saxony club until 2026 Bayern will have to pay a compensation fee of around €5m for Eberl’s services.
