Sven Bender also set to return to Borussia Dortmund in a coaching role

After the news broke that Nuri Sahin was to return to Borussia Dortmund as Edin Terzic’s assistant coach, Sven Bender is also to return in a coaching role at the club, reports Bild

Sven has been working as an assistant manager for Germany under-17s whilst also playing for hometown team TSV Brannenburg with twin brother Lars. Dortmund have approached the DFB for approval to open negotiations with Bender.

The aim is that the return of Bender and Sahin will help fix the cracks between Terzic and the players at Dortmund. The fact that both Bender and Sahin have played with Marco Reus, Mats Hummels and in Bender’s case Julian Brandt previously will hopefully help reduce tensions.

It was Terzic’s idea to bring in both Bender and Sahin as he looks to improve the situation at Dortmund. Bild also proposes the scenario, that if Terzic fails to win over the players and results continue to be poor, then Sahin could become the new coach with Bender as his assistant.
