RB Leipzig to make fourth offer for Loïs Openda

According to Sky Germany, RB Leipzig have not yet reached an agreement on a transfer fee with RC Lens for their striker Loïs Openda.

Leipzig’s management is set to travel to France to discuss a fourth offer with Lens for the 23-year-old. Once an agreement on the fee has been reached, the deal can then be announced as Leipzig have had personal terms agreed with the 23-year-old for a number of weeks

Openda is seen as the replacement for Christopher Nkunku, who has now joined Chelsea. In his first and likely only season of French football, Openda spearheaded the Lens’ attack as they mounted a push for a Champions League place as well as an even more unlikely push for the title. The 23-year-old played every single game for Lens and ultimately scored 21 goals as the team finished one point behind PSG.

The arrival of Openda will be Leipzig’s sixth transfer this summer. The DFB-Pokal winners have already brought in Nicolas Seiwald, Benjamin Seško (both Red Bull Salzburg), Christopher Baumgartner (Hoffenheim), Leopold Zingerle (Paderborn) and Fabio Carvalho on loan from Liverpool.

However, this is a summer of upheaval at Leipzig as they are on the verge of losing four of their best players. Konrad Laimer (Bayern Munich), Christopher Nkunku (Chelsea) and Dominik Szoboszlai (Liverpool) have all left the club this summer, while it is looking increasingly likely that Joško Gvardiol will join Manchester City.
