RB Leipzig hold discussions with Jesper Lindstrøm over a transfer

SportBild reports that RB Leipzig have held discussions with Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrøm over a transfer in the summer.

A move to Leipzig is appealing to the 23-year-old as the club will be playing in the Champions League next season, while Frankfurt could miss out on European football altogether.

However, Lindstrøm is currently contracted at Frankfurt until 2026 and could cost up to €30m. Despite the price tag, a deal between the two clubs could still possibly be reached.

Currently, Leipzig are in a difficult position due to Financial Fairplay. This means more departures from the club will be needed along with Christopher Nkunku. This could potentially open the door for Dominik Szoboszlai or Dani Olmo to be sold with Lindstrøm a like-for-like replacement.

Leipzig face Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal final on June 3rd in Berlin.

The Danish international has only recently come back from an injury. Lindstrøm has struggled to match the form he hit earlier in the season. He currently has nine goals and four assists but has not provided a goal contribution since early February.
