Janis Blaswich will continue in goal after an impressive season and with Peter Gulacsi still recovering from injury. Although today confirming the arrival of Castello Lukeba from Lyon, Marco Rose is expected to start Willi Orban and Mohamad Simakan in central defence.
Rose also has a variety of attacking midfielders to choose from with the additions of young talents Xavi Simons and Fabio Carvalho on loan, however he may be against them making their first competitive starts against a dominant force like Bayern Munich. Christoph Baumgartner has also been another addition to the squad, costing Leipzig €24m but is unlikely to feature due to injury.
New €43m striker Lois Openda has scored six goals in his last two pre-season matches and now looks set to start against Bayern. Another new striker Benjamin Šeško will be pushing to start after scoring three goals in pre-season but faces tough competition from Timo Werner.
