Predicted Germany XI vs USA: Mats Hummels and Jamal Musiala expected to start

Julian Nagelsmann will name his first eleven as Germany head coach when they play USA at the Pratt & Whitney Stadium on Saturday evening in East Hartford, Connecticut.

The former Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Bayern Munich manager could opt for experience and name as many as six players in the starting eleven that are 30 or over: Ilkay Gündoğan (32), Thomas Müller (34), Mats Hummels (34), Niclas Füllkrug (30), Marc-André ter Stegen (31), and Antonio Rüdiger (30).

However, Kicker predicts that one of Jamal Musiala or Florian Wirtz could start over Müller, who started and scored in their last game, a 2-1 win against France under Rudi Völler.

Hummels also returns to the squad with his last game for Die Mannschaft coming against England at Euro 2020. Alongside Hummels, there are also three players in Nagelsmann’s squad earning their first Germany call-up: Robert Andrich, Chris Führich and Kevin Behrens.

But don’t expect too much change to Germany’s starting lineup, with no shocks expected.

Predicted Germany XI vs USA

Marc-André ter Stegen – Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels, Antonio Rüdiger, Robin Gosens – Joshua Kimmich, Ilkay Gündoğan – Jamal Musiala, Florian Wirtz – Leroy Sané, Niclas Füllkrug.
