Predicted Bayern Munich XI vs PSG: João Cancelo and Thomas Müller to start

Bayern Munich will want to build on their run of three successive wins as they face Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League knockout stages on Tuesday night. Although not a season-defining month, Bayern bosses expect a performance in the UCL and after elimination by the Parisian club in the 2020/21 season, will seek revenge.

PSG will make a late decision on whether Kylian Mbappé will start against Bayern Munich, but don’t expect that to alter Julian Nagelsmann’s plans. Alphonso Davies is expected to replace Benjamin Pavard, meaning João Cancelo will revert to right-back. That should help deal with the threat that PSG’s forwards pose.

In midfield, Joshua Kimmich returns after missing Bayern’s 3-0 win against Bochum in the Bundesliga due to a suspension. Tipped to be Bayern’s next captain, Kimmich, who will be refreshed, will be eager to put in a statement performance alongside long-term partner Leon Goretzka.

Serge Gnabry started against Bochum but failed to impress. And so we can expect Kingsley Coman come back into the starting XI with Leroy Sané on the opposite flank. The duo could be in for a busy afternoon with Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes providing what should be an interest, physical battle. In attack, expect Thomas Müller to start ahead of Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who’s still working his way back to full fitness.

Keep a watchful eye on Jamal Musiala. The 19-year-old is Bayern’s key player this season, and is also their top scorer across all competitions. Musiala relishes the big occasions, and there’s no better place to do it than at the Parc des Princes tomorrow against Lionel Messi and Co.
