Paul Pogba dropped from Juventus squad to face SC Freiburg

Paul Pogba has been removed from the Juventus squad to face SC Freiburg, as reported by Kicker

The midfielder has only just returned following a ten-month injury which also saw him miss the World Cup in Qatar. The French international made his official comeback in the Turin derby on February 28th, coming on in the 69th minute with Juventus leading 4-2.

Pogba was due to play a part in the tie against Freiburg on Thursday, most likely appearing as a substitute. However, it’s reported that the 29-year-old has been dropped from the squad due to disciplinary reasons. Pogba was late for training on Wednesday evening and was therefore punished.

Head coach Massimiliano Allegri is clearly not in a sentimental mood. He has a set of rules and regardless of your status or position, rules are rules.

Freiburg play the old lady on Thursday evening in their first leg Europa League round of 16 match in Italy.
