Patrik Schick’s season is over

Patrik Schick confirmed on Thursday night that his season was over.

“Unfortunately, the season for me is over, but we are working really hard on goal to be pain free before the last Bundesliga games and be 100% ready for the next one.

“I wish my teammates all the best for the remaining games, there is still a lot to achieve,” Schick put on Instagram.

That means that Schick will miss Bayer Leverkusen’s remaining four Bundesliga games as they compete for a place in next season’s European competitions, whilst the Czech Republic forward will also miss B04’s UEFA Europa League semi-final against his former club, AS Roma.

Schick has played just 941 minutes across 14 Bundesliga games this season, scoring three and creating one. Under Xabi Alonso, the 27-year-old has played 519 minutes across all competitions and hasn’t played for Bayer Leverkusen since March 9.

Signed from RB Leipzig, Schick was an important player for Bayer Leverkusen last season under Gerardo Seoane, scoring 24 goals in 27 Bundesliga games.

With four games remaining, Bayer Leverkusen currently find themselves occupying sixth, two points ahead of Wolfsburg with FC Köln, Stuttgart, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bochum still to play.
