Official | Stuttgart sign Serhou Guirassy on a permanent deal

Stuttgart have announced that they have activated the buy option in Serhou Guirassy’s loan and signed the striker on a permanent basis.

“I’m glad that all sides were able to agree. My entire concentration now applies to the two relegation games. I will do everything to ensure that VfB will continue to play in the Bundesliga in the coming season,” said Guirassy.

Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth also commented on the striker staying at the club: “Serhou has sufficiently proven his qualities in recent weeks and months, not only his goal quota is convincing. It is a good signal that we have now been able to agree with Serhou on the continuation of our cooperation.”

The fee for the 27-year-old is €9m and he signs a contract at the club until 2026.

Guirassy joined Stuttgart initially on loan from Rennes in France. In his first season back in Germany, the 27-year-old played 26 times and scored 13 goals for VfB as they reached the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal and finished 16th in the Bundesliga.

It is likely that Guirassy will play a big role in deciding Stuttgart’s fate in their relegation playoff against Hamburg on Thursday and Monday.

The Guinea international previously played for FC Köln, spending three years at the club and making 45 appearances before joining Amiens in France for €6m in 2019.
