Official | Leeds United sign Georginio Rutter from Hoffenheim

Leeds United have sign Hoffenheim forward Georginio Rutter for a reported €40m, a club record fee.

The deal was finalised on Friday after lengthy discussions between with both parties. Rutter joins the Premier League side on a contract that keeps him at Ellen Road until 2028.

Leeds United’s interest in Rutter emerged on Saturday and they’ve moved quickly to secure the French attacker from Sinsheim. TSG will receive a considerable return on the €750k they paid Rennes in 2021 to sign Rutter.

Since his move to Germany, Rutter has scored 11 and created eight in 64 games across all competitions for Hoffenheim, and is one of the Bundesliga’s most exciting attacking prospects.

This season, Rutter has featured in each of Hoffenheim’s 15 Bundesliga games, starting 11 under André Breitenreiter, scoring twice.

Rutter’s move comes after Hoffenheim earlier confirmed that the Frenchman would miss training and their friendly against Servette due to “rumours circulating of a move to the Premier League.”
