Newcastle United enter the race to sign Felix Nmecha

Newcastle United have joined Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Wolfsburg’s Felix Nmecha (22), according to Sky Germany.

The Premier League club are internally discussing the possibility of signing Nmecha, who would reportedly cost around €25m including bonus payments. With Newcastle’s interest in Dominik Szoboszlai (RB Leipzig) and James Maddison (Leicester City), Nmecha would be the cheapest option of the three players.

Newcastle also scouted Nmecha on several occasions last season, most recently against Hoffenheim in May. The Germany international scored three and created six in 30 Bundesliga games last season for Wolfsburg.

But if Newcastle are to sign Nmecha, they’ll have to beat Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund to the signing of the midfielder. BVB are looking to reinforce their midfield following the departure of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, with Nmecha and Ajax’s Edson Álvarez their primary targets.

Manchester United have also held talks with Nmecha’s representatives. The German has a contract with Wolfsburg until 2025.
