Max Eberl and Markus Krösche the top candidates for vacant sporting director role at Bayern Munich

Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig director of sport Max Eberl and Eintracht Frankfurt’s sporting CEO Markus Krösche are the top candidates to replace Hasan Salihamidžić at Bayern Munich.

Eberl is a former Bayern Munich player, having played for the club’s academy before joining Bochum in 1994 meaning he identifies with the club. However, Eberl is unlikely to leave due to Leipzig demanding a high fee for the 49-year-old who only joined the club in December last year.

Krösche on the other hand could leave but only if Bayern go all in on him. The 42-year-old also has additional demands as he would like to become a board member as well as sporting director.

Bayern aim to have the position filled by Christmas as they do not wish to rush the process. Uli Hoeneß, Herbert Hainer, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen will be involved in the decision-making.
