Mathys Tel to fight for place at Bayern Munich

Speaking exclusively to TZ, Gadiri Camara, a representative of Mathys Tel, has confirmed that his client will stay at Bayern Munich in the summer and will not be leaving the Bundesliga club on loan.

“Officially, Mathys will stay in Munich, no matter what happens,” said Camara. “All clubs want to know how his situation and it’s totally clear for us.

“One year ago people asked who he is and now they all know he is the future. Even if Haaland or Mbappé come this summer. For him the first year was full of precious knowledges for his path, he is on a mission.

“He knows that if he wants to be the number one in his team he needs to work and improve step by step. If you want to be a key player in Munich you have to improve and fight in Munich. This is the mindset. Mentally ready so keep going.”

18-year-old Tel has already scored four goals in 19 Bundesliga games across 360 minutes in his debut season. The Frenchman has shone in his first year at Bayern and has also impressed Thomas Tuchel, who is wary of throwing Tel in at the deep end. The former Rennes academy product can certainly expect to see more playing time next season.

As reported by L’Équipe, Bayern Munich will not release Tel for the U20 World Cup in Argentina between May 20 and June 11. As the tournament takes place outside of FIFA’s schedule, clubs are not obliged to release their players for the tournament.
