Lucas Hernandez nears Bayern Munich return

After Lucas Hernandez picked up an injury in France’s opening game at the World Cup last year, the Frenchman is close to making a return for Bayern Munich after he trained with the ball again on Easter Monday.

Hernandez suffered a cruciate ligament tear in his right knee in the opening 20 minutes of France’s game against Australia in November which has kept the central-defender out of action since.

The 27-year-old began running again in March and has since taken the next step in his rehabilitation at Bayern’s Säbener Straße, which includes training with the ball, passing and dribbling exercises.

Hernandez has been unlucky this season. The Frenchman suffered an adductor injury against Barcelona in September which ruled him out for 10 games, before returning and then subsequently picking up another injury whilst on international duty.

With a contract at Bayern Munich until 2024, talks between the club and representatives of Hernandez are ongoing and at this stage, an extension does seem likely.
