Liverpool increasingly unlikely to sign Jude Bellingham

The Athletic, reports that Liverpool are increasingly unlikely to sign Jude Bellingham in the summer due to how expensive the deal is likely to be.

As Bellingham does not have a release clause in his contract Dortmund does not have to sell him this summer and would like to keep him for another year, it will cost a lot to prize him away. This has put Liverpool all but out of the race as the financial power of their suitors and the anticipated fee is something they cannot afford.

Nothing is confirmed yet and Liverpool will continue to pursue the 19-year-old, but it is reported that Manchester City and Real Madrid are both in a stronger position.

Dortmund currently believes there is a 50/50 chance they can keep Bellingham for an extra year and offer him an increased salary. Meetings are reportedly expected in the coming weeks where the 19-year-old will make his future clear to Dortmund.
