As reported by Sport Bild, Bayern Munich attacker Leroy Sané wishes to remain at Bayern Munich ahead of next season.
Sané has been given time to consider his future at the club, however, he has made his decision to remain in Bavaria certain. The forward understands the level of performance he needs to maintain if he is to become a significant player for the club.
The 27-year-old joined Bayern in the summer of 2020 for a fee of around €49m, but he has since struggled to find a run of consistent form for Die Rekordmeister. This has been no different in his third season in Munich, and Thomas Tuchel has discussed with Uli Hoeneß and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge about his inconsistencies.
Nevertheless, a separation of the two parties seems unlikely this summer with Sané fearful of jeopardising a place in the national squad for the European Championship which will take place in Germany. This season Sané has appeared 44 times for the record champions, scoring 14 goals and collecting 10 assists in all competitions.
It would be more conceivable to see the forward move on from Bayern in the summer of 2024 after the European championship. This is due to the fact that Sané’s contract expires in 2025, meaning that next summer a sale would have to be made if Die Rekordmeister want a small return for their nearly €50m investment.
