Julian Nagelsmann and Manuel Neuer make peace during talks

Bayern Munich head coach Julian Nagelsmann and club captain Manuel Neuer have made peace during one-to-one discussions this week, according to Bild

During the talks, the duo discussed Neuer’s unrest at the club and the interviews he gave that publicly criticised Naglesmann and other Bayern staff.

Neuer’s original frustration came after the sudden sacking of long-term goalkeeper coach Toni Tapalović.

Though the manager and goalkeeper have now come to terms with their differences and made peace, Neuer is still pending consequences for his actions.

As per player contracts at Bayern, players can be fined up to one gross monthly salary. Neuer’s estimated earnings for the total over €20m. This means that the 36-year-old could face a €1.6m fine.

Neuer will have to wait for an outcome but Bayern will be glad to put the distracting story behind them. Having won just one of their first five Bundesliga games in 2023, they need to find consistency or risk conceding the title to a rival.
