Jude Bellingham returns to training for Borussia Dortmund

Sky Germany have reported that Jude Bellingham has returned to training for Borussia Dortmund ahead of their clash with Mainz on matchday 34.

Dortmund were without Bellingham for their trip to Augsburg on matchday 33 due to a knee complaint that he had failed to recover from. However, the teenager was not missed as Dortmund leapfrogged Bayern Munich in the table to reclaim pole position with a comfortable 3-0 win.

As for his return, the England international has “not yet trained with the team because of his knee problems, but individually,” reported sports director Sebastian Kehl: “He has the goal on Saturday completely, he’s doing everything for it.”

Bellingham has been an influential figure this season with 15 goals and six assists in all competitions for the Black and Yellows. While he has also been able to earn the accolade of becoming the youngest Borussia Dortmund captain in the absence of Marco Reus.

With the Meisterschale on the line, Edin Terzić would certainly prefer his midfield maestro positively influencing Dortmund’s performance on the pitch rather than off it. Nevertheless, the 19-year-old will undoubtedly be part of the team, Kehl assured but clarified: “We’ll see in what role. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Borussia Dortmund only need to equal or better Bayern Munich’s result against FC Köln if they are to be crowned German champions for the first time since the 2011/12 campaign.
