“It’s about finally bringing the championship trophy back to Dortmund.” – Edin Terzić

There’s a sense of euphoria around Dortmund at the moment, after Borussia Dortmund’s 3-0 win against Augsburg on Sunday, Die Schwarzgelben are now just one win away from their first Bundesliga title in 11 years.

“This year we’re closer than we’ve been for a long time. We have to sleep six more times, wake up once more and give it our all. Hopefully then we can finally hold the championship trophy in our hands,” said Edin Terzić.

Speaking on the moment ahead, Terzić added: “The season will be over in seven days, then the boys can buy anything they want – the next car, the next house, the next vacation. But you can’t buy this moment. We worked hard for it, we suffered and left a lot of sweat behind. Now it’s about taking the last step, going with our fans in our stadium in our city, to finally bring the championship trophy back to Dortmund.”

Borussia Dortmund were made to work for their win in Augsburg. Julian Brandt and Sébastien Haller missed big chances in the first half but persistence paid off for the French-Ivorian. Haller opened the scoring just before the hour mark with a superb finish before adding a second after Tomas Koubek failed to clear Marco Reus’ shot. Brandt then added a third in stoppage time in front of a wall of yellow, despite this being an away game.

That means after Bayern Munich capitulated against RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga Topspiel on Saturday evening, Dortmund are now two points clear of their league rivals with one game remaining. BVB host Mainz whilst Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern travel to Cologne, a typically difficult place to visit.
