Inter Milan enter the race to sign Schalke’s Assan Ouédraogo

As previously reported, RB Leipzig were the favourites to sign Schalke midfielder Assan Ouédraogo, despite interest from Bayern Munich and AC Milan. However, Die Roten Bullen now have to contend with more competition.

As reported by Sky Germany, Inter Milan have now entered the race to sign the talented 17-year-old. With their interest known, more concrete discussions surrounding a possible deal are expected to take place soon.

Nevertheless, if Ouédraogo is to leave, then a deal for the teenager to move in the January transfer window is considered to be very unlikely. This is because his release clause only comes into effect when he signs a professional contract in May 2024.

This exit clause would see Bundesliga clubs such as Bayern and Leipzig pay around €12m – €15m for his services. Whereas, sides from outside of Germany would be required to offer around €20m.

Regardless, Schalke are still looking to buy Ouédraogo out of his contract in the hope that they can demand a higher fee due to their ongoing financial problems. However, Ouédraogo has not yet made a decision regarding his future, as more clubs claim their interest.
