Hansi Flick to call up youngsters ahead of international friendlies in March

Germany head coach Hansi Flick will call up a few youngsters ahead of Die Mannschaft’s friendlies in March, reports Kicker

Germany have scheduled matches against Peru in Mainz on March 25th and then Belgium in Köln three days later.

We want to show people what we’re made of,” explained the 58-year-old.

He continued: “I’m sure that we have very good quality and cool guys. It’s about calling up the performance at the right moment. It’s important that you feel there’s a team that fights passionately and wants to give something back to the spectators. Anyone who wants that is welcome to join us on our way to EURO 2024.”

For Germany, the next year will be one big build-up ahead of hosting Euro 2024. After two World Cup failures in a row, it’ll be crucial for Germany to at least reach the last 8 or 4 of the next major tournament, partially as the host nation. It will likely be a much-changed Germany for the 2022 World Cup with many notable players coming to the end of their international careers.

On Tuesday, Flick gave an indication as to what his first squad of 2023 would liik like: “We’ll see that we have one or two new players with us, it will be interesting to see some youngsters.”

In terms of goalkeepers, Flick is likely to start Barcelona’s number one Marc-André ter Stegen. The 30-year-old will be keen to finally cermet his role as his nation’s number one with Manuel Neuer out for the foreseeable future.
