Bild reports that Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili and Brentford’s David Raya are the two favourites to replace Yann Sommer as backup goalkeeper at Bayern Munich.
Out of the two, Raya is being considered more as an option as Bayern are looking at the possibility of loaning the goalkeeper. While it has been reported by Sky Germany that Mamardashvili will not join Bayern this summer.
Both goalkeepers are currently worth around €25-30m, it is likely that if either of these two arrives, they could be seen as the long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer. Raya’s contract at Brentford expires next summer meaning if he joins the club on loan and convinces he could join the club on a free transfer next summer. While with Mamardashvili it would be a commitment without any sort of trial but the keeper could be the outright successor for Neuer once he retires.
Other candidates include Bono (Sevilla), Robert Sánchez (Brighton), Kamil Grabara (Copenhagen), ex-United David de Gea, Wojciech Szczesny (Juventus) and Dominik Kotarski (Thessaloniki). There is still a possibility that Bayern will approach these keepers.
Sommer is set to join Inter Milan on a permanent basis to replace André Onana who joined Manchester United. It is reported that both Bayern and Inter are in final talks over a transfer.
