Gio Reyna returns to Borussia Dortmund training

Borussia Dortmund’s Gio Reyna has returned to training after missing out on pre-season. Head coach Edin Terzić confirmed the news ahead of BVB’s Bundesliga game against Bochum on Saturday afternoon.

“Gio Reyna is on the pitch for the first time today and was able to participate in parts of training,” said Terzić.

Reyna suffered a calf injury while on international duty with the United States in June, and has missed the whole of pre-season with Borussia Dortmund. With his return to training, there’s yet a possibility that the American could feature on the bench for Dortmund this weekend.

It’s a boost for Dortmund who narrowly edged past FC Köln last weekend, with Donyell Malen scoring the only goal of the game two minutes from time.

Reyna suffered an injury plagued campaign last season, playing just 609 minutes across 22 Bundesliga games. But the USMNT player did score seven and create two, including game winning goals against Mainz and Augsburg.
