Freiburg set their sights on RB Salzburg striker Junior Adamu

As reported by Kronen Zeitung, SC Freiburg are ready to move for RB Salzburg centre forward Junior Adamu.

The 21-year-old Austrian international is currently contracted to Salzburg until the summer of 2025. However, with Freiburg entering into European football for a second consecutive season, a potential record bid for the Breisgau would force the hand of Salzburg.

Adamu has featured 38 times for the Austrian champions in all competitions so far this campaign, collecting 12 goals and three assists. This has seen him become an integral part of the Salzburg side with only fellow Bundesliga newcomer Benjamin Šeško scoring more than Adamu this season.

With Freiburg’s all-time leading goalscorer Nils Petersen retiring at the end of the season, room has opened up in Christian Streich’s side for a new forward player. The 56-year-old Freiburg head coach has targeted Adamu and found him a suitable fit for Breisgau.

A move to Freiburg would see Adamu link up with two of his current international colleagues. Philipp Lienhart and Michael Gregoritsch, have been ever-present for Streich’s side this campaign and would help Adamu settle into the Black Forest.
