Freiburg interested in bringing Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri in on loan

Fabrizio Romano reports that Freiburg are interested in bringing in Manchester United midfielder Hannibal Mejbri in on loan in the winter.

The Tunisian international is not going to the Africa Cup of Nations in the winter as he looks for more playing time away from Old Trafford. Freiburg are one of the teams interested in the midfielder but they will face competition from Sevilla and Lyon.

Mejbri is a versatile player who can play through midfield as well as on the wing. This likely means that the 20-year-old is a temporary replacement for Ritsu Doan who is expected to travel with Japan to the Asian Cup in the new year. Freiburg also lack options in central midfield with Yannik Keitel the only senior option behind Nicolas Höfler and Maximilian Eggestein.

Freiburg are currently eighth in the Bundesliga only outside of the European places on goal difference, they have also qualified for the playoff round of the Europa League knockouts where they face Lens in February.
