Fortuna Düsseldorf goalkeeper Florian Kastenmeier (25) has been linked with a move to FC Augsburg, according to Rheinische Post.
The current Düsseldorf number one has aspirations to play in the Bundesliga, which could be good for his side, but only if they can get promotion this season. Currently in 7th place, Düsseldorf are seven points behind the promotion places.
Augsburg are monitoring the development of Kastenmeier and see him as a replacement for Rafal Gikiewicz (35), whose contract runs out in the summer. Kastenmeier is tied with Düsseldorf until the summer of 2024.
As per the report, Augsburg may not be the only team looking at the 25-year-old. Several Bundesliga sides are reportedly keeping tabs on Kastenmeier, though the newspaper does not mention any other specific teams.
Before any potential sale, Augsburg will have to first secure their Bundesliga status. The Bavarian-based club currently sit 15th in the table and just one point off automatic relegation.
