First talks between Manchester United and Jeremie Frimpong

Manchester United have opened up discussions with representatives of Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, talks between Jeffrey Lemmert, Frimpong’s representative, and Manchester United have started with the first round of discussions reportedly being positive.

Frimpong has a contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2025, but would be open to leaving Die Werkself in the summer. Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag is also an admirer of Frimpong, who has scored eight and created nine in 38 competitive games for Bayer Leverkusen this season.

Sky Germany’s Marlon Irlbacher believes that Bayer Leverkusen will demand a transfer fee of around €40m before they even consider selling Frimpong. B04 also today announced the signing of Brazilian right-back Arthur from América FC for a reported €7m – he could be seen as a replacement for Frimpong.

Since his €11m transfer from Celtic in January 2021, Frimpong (21) has played 83 games across all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 10 and creating 18.
