Ellyes Skhiri prefers a move to Southern Europe

The Köln Express reports that Ellyes Skhiri prefers a move to Southern Europe after his contract at 1.FC Köln expires in the summer.

Spain and Italy are at the top of Skhiri’s list when it comes to a move while a return to France is out of the question. A decision on the Tunisian’s future is to be made in the next two weeks, with clubs reportedly queuing for the 28-year-old.

Previously, Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt had reportedly shown interest in Skhiri, with Frankfurt even holding discussions with the 28-year-old but it seems that Skhiri would like to end his chapter in the Bundesliga.

Skhiri joined Köln back in 2019 from Montpellier for €6m, he has been a key piece in their midfield since and has made a name for himself when it comes to his running. In the 2022/23 season, Skhiri ran the most out of any Bundesliga player running a total of 393 kilometres in 32 games.
