Edin Terzic could be promoted to sporting director in the summer

According to Bild, Borussia Dortmund manager Edin Terzic could be promoted to sporting director in the summer, replacing Sebastian Kehl.

Terzic has struggled this season as Dortmund manager and has been kept in charge due to Dortmund qualifying from a tough Champions League group as well as due to his strong relationship with Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke. Terzic is also a lifelong Dortmund fan which means he is popular amongst fans due to his connection to the club.

An idea that is circulating at Dortmund is that Terzic could replace current sporting director Kehl in the summer and Dortmund hire a new coach who can give the club a sporting boost.

However, due to his power at the club, Terzic was influential in Dortmund’s summer signings of Felix Nmecha, Marcel Sabitzer, Ramy Bensebaini and Niclas Füllkrug. Nearly halfway through the season on Füllkrug can be seen as somewhat of a success. In the summer, Kehl tried to bring now West Ham midfielder Édson Alvarez to replace Emre Can but Terzic decided to stick with Can and promote him to club captain.

Terzic’s track record has shown that he cannot build a squad that can challenge Bayern Munich and promoting him to sporting director will do more harm than good.
