Dominik Szoboszlai is open to leaving RB Leipzig amid Newcastle United interest

As reported by Florian Plettenberg, Dominik Szoboszlai is open to leaving RB Leipzig this summer after becoming aware of concrete interest from Newcastle United.

Szoboszlai is a top transfer target of the Magpies and with the English side finishing fourth in the Premier League, Szoboszlai would be offered Champions League football with the move. It’s reported that there is a €70m release clause within the Hungarian’s contract which can be exercised at any time.

As for Leipzig, they have become frustrated with the 22-year-olds after a recent statement he made: “If I can now take a step towards the five or six best clubs in Europe, should I say no to this challenge? I’ve never been like that.” However, the price tag may be a stumbling block for Newcastle, and they will try to negotiate a lower for Szoboszlai.

The Leipzig attacker has managed to score nine goals while collecting 13 assists in all competitions this season. Szoboszlai’s form has seen him become an integral part of a Leipzig side that finished third, just five points behind eventual champions Bayern Munich this season.

Leipzig will face Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB-Pokal final later today, where the side from Saxony will look to retain their domestic cup after overcoming the challenge of Freiburg last year.
